The Other Side of Desire

[ Type ]

Over 15 years experience at the nexus of product, brand, and technology.

[ Description ]

The Other Side of Desire is an abstract visual narrative emerging from my thesis research, Moments Lost in Time: Exploring Emotional Consciousness in Science Fiction Cinema. The film follows a woman suspended between numbness and longing, drawn toward the promise of feeling something again.

She encounters a screen bearing a warning: you won’t transcend. The message offers no escape or relief, yet its clarity awakens an even deeper curiosity. When she crosses the threshold, the physical world dissolves, revealing a system that mirrors and amplifies her inner emptiness.

Fashion becomes architecture — metallic, reflective, unstable — as the body fractures through glitches and distortions, echoing psychological instability. When she attempts to escape, it is already too late: the system has mapped and absorbed her into the algorithm.

The project reflects on desire and emotional awareness in technologically mediated worlds, questioning what happens when the search for meaning doesn’t lead to transcendence, but assimilation. Is a different world still different if you remain the same? When escape becomes a system, are you free or captured?
